5 out of 5 stars Love this book!   January 6, 2009
Stephanie Meyer never dissapoints, I could hardly put this book down. I am 40 yrs old and I can truly say I loved this series as much as any teenager!

1 out of 5 stars A little distressing   January 6, 2009
I was given Twilight by my 15 year old niece. She loves the books and was thrilled when the movie came out. After reading the first book I could concede that they are entertaining and a good way to escape reality, even if they are poorly written. However I was concerned about the disfunctional relationship between Bella and Edward. Is the author praising this kind of behavior in young girls? She is obedient, mindless, and moody. Edward has complete control over her actions, thoughts, and moods. It's sick and Bella shouldn't be anyone's role model. I hope young girls can see how wrong and sad it is.

New Moon was worse. Bella is a mess. She even gives up on her education. College is PLAN B?! What is that saying to teenage girls? A man is the most important thing, so if you are dumped you should give up on life and your future. It's distressing to think of bright young women taking this attitude to heart. Books and movies leave an impression. Bella is weak, pathetic, and dependent on men. She sets women back decades and I'm not sure what Ms. Meyers is trying to say about how we should behave. It's really sad.

Besides the message of the books, the writing is pretty poor. Bella is unlikable and stupid. All she does is cry about how she wants to spend the rest of her life with Edward. When he proposes to her she then says no!?! She says no because her absentee mother won't like it? That is infuriating.

5 out of 5 stars New Moon...Review   January 6, 2009
Book recieved in decent time. Nothing wrong with the book. Ordered another book from them today as a matter of fact cause it was cheaper than in store including the shipping direct to my house. The stores are always sold out and have a wait time. Here it come direct in a few days.

3 out of 5 stars My least favorite - but still pretty good.   January 6, 2009
I got this series and blew through all 4 books in about 4 days. I am now rereading the series to make sure I'm picking up all the finer details I may have missed in my initial fly-through.

I have to admit - this book was my least favorite in the series. I want Bella & Edward together and as fascinating as Jacob was, he couldn't draw me in as did Bella & Edward. I found myself skimming through much of the book to get to the part where Edward returned.

Had I rated this after my first read-through, it would probably have been 2 stars. But after patiently re-reading every single word (no skimming), I am giving it three stars.

I have to admit - Jacob did irritate me. His constant putting down of the vampires drove me nuts....can't see how Bella would put up with that.

The Romeo & Juliet parallels are amazing - but that can be said of many love stories. I don't find that at all a negative.

I was annoyed that Edward left at all....to me this all seemed to be a GIANT miscommunication. Bella loves Edward, Bella's human-ness endangers herself and the Cullens, Bella wants to become a vampire to be with Edward forever and remove the danger. OK. Edward loves Bella, Edward constantly saves Bella from all the dangers, Edward wants to spend forever with Bella. Sounds like they're on the same page if you ask me....so why leave?

I can see where a lot of this story lays the foundation for the next two books. And after patiently rereading the saga, I now appreciate that. But sorry - I'm just not a fan of this one.

5 out of 5 stars New Moon Review   January 6, 2009
I really liked this book. I missed my Edward but got a chance to learn so much more of Jacob. This book was to me the slowest of the series but have to admit could not go without reading it! LOVE THE WHOLE SERIES!!!!
