Product Description Take a rainbow journey with Dora and her friends! Share peppermints with Benny and lollipops with Isa, but watch out or the pesky Swiper will try to slow you down. The first to reach the fiesta wins! There's no reading required, so even the youngest Dora fans can play. For 2-4 players.
Amazon.com Review What could be better than a candy-themed fiesta with Dora, Diego, and Boots? Candyland, that venerable early-childhood board game gets spiced up with the cute characters of Nick Jr.'s Dora the Explorer cartoon show. Kids need not know how to read to enjoy the game because counting and color recognition guides them along this sweet path. Best of all, the game provides a learning opportunity for young readers since the game board has several objects and characters identified in both English and Spanish. The first player to make it to the fiesta at the end wins. Includes the game board, deck of game cards, English and Spanish instructions, and four character pawns: Dora, Diego, Boots, and Map/Backpack. --Porter B. Hall

Great game for your Dora fan. December 4, 2008 My daughter was given this game about two years ago. At first, I contemplated taking it back because we already owned original Candyland, but my daughter convinced me that the Dora version would be much more fun. I caved in and we kept the Dora Candyland. The basic concept of the Dora version is exactly the same as your standard original Candyland, but the theme is changed. In this version we are trying to get to the Fiesta first. Instead of getting stuck on a gumdrop for the lose a turn spaces Swiper is the reason for losing a turn. The overall feel and look of this gameboard is cheerful and friendly. My oldest daughter was always a little scared of the Lord Licorice character on the original Candyland. The Grumpy Old Troll is the only grumpy looking character on the board, and that's how he is on the show. His presence alone makes playing this game enjoyable for me. The game pices for this version are very nice. Dora, Boots, Diego and Backpack are all decked out and ready to go to the fiesta. My youngest daughter is now the one who plays with this game and she prefers it to the original version and so do her little friends, it's a game they always ask to play when we host playdates. My only gripe about this version is there is no story attached to the game. With original Candyland you get the story about Candyland and some background on all the characters you will meet along the way. I would have liked to have a story related to the Dora version, but it's still a good game even without the story.
This is a big hit in our house. November 30, 2008 This game is a huge hit with our child (almost 4 yrs old). The thing I like about board games is when we're done they get put in the box and stored instead of having 50-million things laying all around the house. Aside from that there is an educational value (counting, taking turns, learnings rules, etc.). I could live without the Dora version, but this aspect makes it more fun for the young child who likes to watch Dora.
An old favorite June 30, 2008 I love that a game I played with my 18 year old and 12 year old has been updated for my 4 year old who loves anything Dora.
Great Game for little Dora Fans! October 17, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I just recieved this game in the mail today and played it with my daughter that is 3 1/2 years old, She loves Dora! She was very excited to play this game and it was hard to keep her from wanting to move the pieces in the wrong places. She wanted to play with all the characters but had to realize you can only use 2 of them when playing with just 2 people. She liked that at the end of the game Dora (or whomever you choose to play with) gets to go to a party at the end of the game. It is a fun game for little kids. I don't think this game is very educational for my daughter since she already knows all her colors. But, if it teaches patience, that might just help in the future. The figures that come with this game are pretty durable and can make nice little toys if your child became bored with the game.
Fun for all January 18, 2007 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I have always heard of Candy Land, but as a child, I never played that game. I did decide that it was time for my kids to learn about playig board games. They loved it. I got it for my three year old daughter (A big Dora Fan) and all she cared about at first was the big Dora picture on the box. I set up the game, and didn't have to tell her anything except: pick a card and move the amount of color spots that you are told. She understood right away. This is the perfect game to teach kids the main concept of playing board games. All of my other children love it (her twin brother and my 5 year old son). They all decide when they want to play, and each have their favorite game piece (the boys alternate between Diego and Boots). I can't help but play this game with them too. I highly recommend this game for children. As long as your child knows the main colors and can couunt to five, he/she can play this game. My only regret is not getting it sooner.
