Product Description Calling all baseball fans, young and old. Celebrate the great American pastime with a game dedicated to the ballparks of the past. This all-new concept in pinball games brings you back to what baseball use to be. You can hit everything - from a single to a homerun - in pinball fashion. Even keep score on real score cards. Plus, with a twist of a knob, your score will appear on the scoreboard. Intricately detailed for baseball fans. Measures approximately 21"L x 22"W x 12"H.
Editorial Review Players of this old-fashioned tabletop game find that, instead of playing pinball, they're interfacing with America's favorite pastime. Manually played, Old Century Baseball has no electronic features--just sanded, stained, and nostalgically painted wood. Players pull back the hammer to pitch the steel pinball (there are two included) into the colorful field. A single wooden flipper--shaped like a bat--hits it. Instead of yesteryear's Red Sox or Black Crackers running bases, there are pinball holes or ramps to signify singles, doubles, triples, outs, or grand slams. Players use detailed score cards to keep track of Road and Home positions and points. The 27- by 27- by 8-inch game requires some assembly. To that end, wood glue is included to attach the backboard, pennant flags, and field walls. Screws mount the exterior ball-return slot and support legs. No batteries required. --Diane Beall

Disappointed January 14, 2008 2 out of 5 found this review helpful
Thought this classic pinball type baseball game would be great. It would have been had the spring loaded ball plunger worked. When you pull back on it, it just stays tight instead of moving freely. I have to flick the ball with my finger to put it into play. You can tell that there is no quality control with the manufacturing of this game. It would have been such a simple check to make sure the few moving parts were working properly on it, but there is no doubt that nothing was checked. No since in sending it back as they will just send it to some other unsuspecting buyer. I'll have to fix it myself. That's why it's just not smart to order online. Get it from a store and you can at least check it out before you buy. Why was I so stupid. Thought I'd try it (mail order) one more time. Not again. The only thing I've ever been happy with through mail order is flowers.
Take me out to the Ballgame January 7, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have been looking at this item for several years in catalogues and always felt the $100.00 price tag was too much. Happily we found it on Amazon for a lot less money and free shipping. Our whole family has been having a lot of fun with it. It's not hard to assemble, however once you have it together it does not fold up for storage, so make sure you have somewhere to leave it out all the time.
Great Fun! But... January 16, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
It would be easier to keep score on a book that is not glossy or bound; ink smears, pencil does not show up, and writing in the crease is difficult. They should include a score book similar to the typical baseball scoring books; spiral bound, paper. Other than that, the product is exactly what we were looking for.
Nice pitch 'n bat! August 21, 2003 14 out of 14 found this review helpful
I recommend this one over the smaller model made by the same company. This one is much more playable.
