This sequel introduces several new Chimeran enemies with a host of new powers. View larger. | Resistance 2 takes up right where the Resistance: Fall of Man left off. Hale is kidnapped by a black ops group in London and forced to Iceland for research testing. The full scope of what happens in Iceland is a mystery, but the game reveals that as Hale wrestles with the insidious Chimera war machine, he must also battle the virus raging inside his body that threatens to transform him into the very creature he fights against. The Return of the Chimera The Chimera are the main enemies of the Resistance franchise. For those new to the story, it is believed that the Chimera are of extraterrestrial origin. Yet, it is known that their army expands by infecting humans with a virus that transforms humans into Chimera while inside a cocoon. These creatures are much stronger than humans, and usually have multiple yellow eyes. They have remarkable healing abilities and thrive in very cold temperatures, which has led them to alter the Earth's climate to a much lower temperature that better suits their habitat requirements. Resistance 2 introduces several new Chimeran enemies with a host of new powers. A few new characters include the Chameleon, a creature that can cloak itself completely and kill a player in one, destructive blow, and the Grim which are a terrifying species that attack in hordes. The Battle Moves to the United States After the brief opening scenes in London and then Iceland, game play jumps ahead two years and across the globe to San Francisco. Giant, mile-long motherships slowly cruise through the skies demolishing the city with fiery beams. Burned and mangled, it appears that there will be little to no survivors. As the battle continues across the United States you're sure to encounter many new, deranged, and much more powerful enemies. In Chicago, you'll be joined by a squad of soldiers all carrying different weapons. To survive and move through the level, you'll need to work together moving from cover to cover, setting up your squad in a smart and defensive manner. These are just a few examples of the challenging levels you'll encounter as you battle your way across the country to save mankind. And if you're hoping for new weapons, Resistance 2 won't leave you disappointed. The US-based campaign is loaded with tons of new weapons to enhance the overall game play and first-person shooter experience. Online game play Goes BIG Powered by Insomniac Games' third-generation PlayStation 3 technology, Resistance 2 delivers several console gaming breakthroughs. Most impressive are the stand-alone, class-based, online co-operative campaign mode that can accommodate up to eight players, and the mind-blowing, 60-player, squad-based online competitive multiplayer battle fest. This unprecedented 60-player option could revolutionize online multiplayer game play, and is sure to provide countless hours of action-packed fun. Collector's Edition is Loaded with Extras Resistance 2 Collector's Edition is loaded with extras that are sure to impress even the most die-hard fans. This special collector's edition comes with an exclusive 5.5-inch Chimera Hybrid action figure that's packing a Bullseye weapon. The package also includes a double-sided Resistance art book that covers a war-torn America from two unique perspectives, and a bonus DVD that includes exclusive commentary, in-game HVAP Wraith multiplayer skin, a Behind the Scenes video, and lots more.
Resistance 2, set in the United States, is loaded with new weapons, enemies, and an unprecedented online gaming experience.

Resistance 2 - More of the Chimera January 6, 2009 I enjoyed the first Resistance, and this one is a "bigger, better, and badder" version. It has a ton more content, the graphics are better, and it has a lot better single player campaign. It is actually very hard, too. If you like first person shooters, and have a PS3, this is definitely a good pick.
Resistance 2 Collector's Edition December 27, 2008 PLEASE READ BEFORE BUYING THIS GAME
I'm a huge fan of the first Resistance game as well as of the Halo series, but was extremely disappointed that there was NO CO-OP in the single-player campaign mode. I found this very misleading since the "CO-OP" mode is really just playing online multiplayer with up to eight players. The multiplayer is also way too hard to play with just two people and you need at least three to ensure there's a medic, soldier and special ops to keep providing ammo. The other thing I found annoying is that you can't continue the multiplayer online segment with the same players after a game, but are instead booted out into the lobby to find another game to join.
The other thing I found with the single player campaign is that even on casual I found myself quickly dying and having to learn through trial and error like a Tomb Raider game, which was quite annoying if you just want to get through the storyline, isn't that what hard is for? It's not like I'm at an arcade where they want you to keep feeding them coins... well, unless you buy the Collector's Edition.
TO THE POINT If you like multiplayer online, then get it especially since PSN is free over Xbox LIVE. Just buy the standard edition, the collector's edition is not worth the extra $$.
But if you're looking for the same co-op single-player campaign as in the first Resistance or as in the entire Halo series, DO NOT BUY THIS GAME. Insomniac has decided to pull one of the easiest features, 2-player split screen, from players who just want to enjoy the single-player campaign with a friend, even if it makes no sense. After all, Halo did it and I believe that they sold quite a few copies in that franchise. - SA
Join the Resistance. You will not regret it. December 22, 2008 Resistance 2 has a great campaign mode that keeps you going by keeping the missions high paced and over the top action. Tons of new weapons and locations. Extremely interesting boss battles. Better than any other first person shooter. Graphics and sound is all top notch. The online and co-op are also great. You can play online with friends and also online with people in your home. Split screen co-op is a plus. This game has everything you might want when it comes to a great FPS game.
The extras. The CE version has a cool action figure and a high quality booklet that gives some of the back story to the games history. A great plus to any fan of the original.
This game is awesome December 21, 2008 This game is very solid. The online portion if great. The single player campaign could be longer. The environment are extremely detailed and fun to interact with. The voice overs could have been more in synced, and the computer controlled AI was sometimes out of sync with its environment. However, the online competitive and coop modes are extremely well done, with absolutely zero trace of lag.
Awesome game! December 18, 2008 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
Awesome game, great story, fun gameplay.
I wouldn't necessarily buy the collector's edition, but it came bundled with my ps3. However the game is great!
