Amazon.com Product Description Start a Band...the Guitar Hero Way Guitar Hero World Tour transforms music gaming by expanding Guitar Hero's signature guitar gameplay into a cooperative band experience that combines advanced wireless instruments with online and offline gameplay modes including online Band Career and 8-player "Battle of the Bands," which allows two full bands to compete head-to-head online. The game features a slick redesigned guitar as well as a Music Studio music creator that lets players compose, record, edit and share their own rock ?n’ roll anthems.
*Note: The drum kit controller and microphone are sold seperately. Wireless Instruments New to GHWT is a redesigned, more responsive guitar controller, which features a touch-sensitive slide bar on the neck that allows the player to play through certain song passages without needing to strum. Be the Next Great Songwriter Music Studio lets players express their musical creativity by giving them access to a full complement of tools to create digital music from scratch utilizing the guitar controller and drum kit. Players can create their tracks and then play them in-game or share the recordings with the entire Guitar Hero community through GHTunes. GHTunes allows other gamers from around the world to download and play the community's original tracks. Available to Xbox 360 gamers is Line 6's guitar tone technology, enabling them to use amps, cabs, and effects from the Line 6 POD. Create the Band Budding rock stars can live out their rock ?n’ roll fantasies by playing either a single instrument or any combination of instruments, in addition to the full band experience. When rocking as part of a band, up to four players can jam together in quickplay or as they progress through a career. Both band and single-player careers feature non-linear progression giving artists the option to change difficulty and instruments with a variety of different gigs available at any time. Never Jam Solo Again Virtual musicians in need of band mates can take their careers online forming worldwide ensembles so no rock star ever has to play a gig solo. Plus, GHWT adds a "Battle of the Bands" modes, which allows eight players to join online and challenge each other band-to-band to establish global supremacy. Customize Everything The character creator allows gamers to create a rock star with style as unique as their own. Absolute customization from the clothes, to the facial and body structure, to the tattoos and accessories, players are encouraged to unleash their inner rock legend. The Rock Star Creator doesn't just allow players to build the ultimate rock god; the in-depth creators include the ability to customize guitars, drums and microphones. Adding yet another layer of personalization, gamers can create custom logos for their instruments, band, or album covers. A Set List for the Ages The Guitar Hero World Tour set list is comprised entirely of master recordings from some of the greatest artists of all-time including Van Halen, Linkin Park, The Eagles, and Sublime. It's true - the guitar is faulty January 6, 2009 I was hoping that I would get lucky but it was not to be. The guitar is faulty - it will not register the strum. Amazon is willing to send a replacement so we'll see if that one works. Buying this package is a gamble.
If you don't have guitar hero 3, buy that package and then just buy the game for this version. The guitar hero 3 controller is better and will work with this version.
malfunctioning controller January 6, 2009 game is fun, but had to return the controller because the strum bar was sticking.
Teerible Guitar - Buyer Beaware December 23, 2008 The game itself if fine, but the guitar is a piece of crap, the strum failed after 3-4 hours of play. I exchanged for a new guitar, guess what, exact same thing happend with the new guitar after a few hours of play. The strum bar will not register downward stum every few notes, very irratating. Should have bought Rockband 2.
Faulty Guitar, Activition Support is Terrible December 16, 2008 Got the guitar bundle from Amazon a few weeks back, and the guitar had a broken strum bar right out of the box. It dropped some notes at first, and got even worse after a few hours.
I tried to get an RMA for the guitar, but after over a week of dealing with Red Octane's terrible replacement request website and Activition's automated phone system, I ended up with over half a dozen automated e-mail responses and was still no closer to getting a working guitar. I have since returned the bundle to Amazon and haven't looked back.
In contrast, when I bought a Rock Band 1 bundle last year, the guitar was also broken out of the box. After 15 minutes on their web site, I got a replacement guitar shipped to me that arrived in less than a week, and still works to this day.
If you are choosing one or the other, I would definitely go with Rock Band. Both their customer service and the games themselves are of a much higher quality than these newer Guitar Hero releases.
Great Game - Horrible/Faulty Guitar Controller December 4, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I'm generally a pretty forgiving person when it comes to electronics and their idiosyncrasies but this bundle is absolutely horrible. I took the guitar controller out of the packaging and failed out almost immediately as the downward strum simply failed to register 90% of the time. The game is quite enjoyable using my Guitar Hero III guitar. There are some serious quality control issues that Red Octane needs to address. Their customer service is terrible when it comes to defective hardware but thank goodness for Amazon.com and their easy return process. I recommend this game but stay away from the guitar controller for now.
