3 out of 5 stars Giving it a Chance In Spite of Reviews   January 5, 2009

I bought Jillian Michaels Fitness Ultimatum 2009 for the Wii before I read any reviews. After I got it home, I read the reviews and was wondering whether I'd wasted $30 (got it on sale). I tried the program out last night for the first time, and I actually enjoyed it. I have no idea who she is (and I really don't care). I just want something that will get me up and moving for a change.

The vast majority of the reviews I read are negative - focusing on the lack of selection of the avatar and the colors not looking right, how the program doesn't respond quick enough, or about the music selection not being prime workout material. I guess those are non-issues for me. (Turn down the volume if you don't like the music). I'm not a "gamer", so I really don't care how detailed the graphics are. For me, the whole point of the program/game is to get me up off the couch and move, and make it a little fun and challenging. It's exactly that. I only tried it out for 20 minutes last night, and I was sweating. My arms were sore this morning from some of the activities I tried.

So for all of those still wondering whether to spend their money on this item, I say give it a chance. You just might enjoy the change of pace. I'm glad I did.

1 out of 5 stars total garbage   January 5, 2009
ok, just like everyone else on here pretty much, this game is garbage.. the instructions are horrible and it's very difficult to understand what you are supposed to do in the game. the graphics are boring and dull. it has a good idea for exercises but you get more frustrated trying to figure out how to use it and just stress out.... plus, jillian michaels is horrible!! how did this woman ever get famous for fitness, she looks like a dude!! seriously, squint a bit and forget the long hair and it looks like a guy's face! damn girl, get off the steroids.. plus she even sounds like a guy!
just a horrible game all around, ebay here i come

4 out of 5 stars Good for workout....   January 5, 2009

Ok, I agree with a lot of the negatives other people have left...
The graphics and the music and the movement of the onscreen character could be a lot better... .I, too, found it very frustrating at first that I could barely make the character go more than a jog... when I was running as hard as I can..

That being said... I bought this because I wanted to work out... Something to entertain me a little while I worked out, or to make me want to work out.... This "game" does do that...

And ok, so the onscreen charcter is moving a crawl ---- that does not mean I should, myself, move at that crawl... I just push myself anyway... after all I am in this for a workout.

Same goes for the games -- So what if I often have to do the jump or action 3 or 4 times before it registers.... If you are doing this for the workout, then does it really matter if you have to do the action repeated times?????

I don't have a Wii board.. so I do this with one controller and the chuk, and I find everytime I play the "game" - I understand the exercises a little better, and get the controllers to respons to me better.

Can you cheat and not really do the exercises? Sure -- without the board, the game has no idea if I'm running or just moving the controllers -- but then I'm only cheating myself, right???

I'm not a fitness expert... I'm a person who has a gym membership and rarely uses it... I own a treadmill that is usally covered with laundry and other stuff...

BUT I've used this program for the past 4 days... ALWAYS ON WEIGHT LOSS, and ALWAYS ON LIGHT WORKOUT... the first day only 5 minutes and I was exhausted, the next day I did 10 -- the next 15, and yesterday I managed to do 30 minutes...... In 4 days, I've lost 5 pounds........ and I just feel overall better....

Sooooo if you already have a workout plan -- would I suggest this.. No...
If you are overweight and wanting something to get you off the couch, I think this is a great option...

1 out of 5 stars AWFUL!!! Don't Buy!   January 5, 2009
This game is so horrible. I was very disappointed. Its boring, the graphics are terrible and I didn't even break a sweat, it constantly stops and starts you so you can't ever get your heart rate up and keep it there.
I also own My Fitness Coach and it is awesome. Buy that instead. I have done it for a week now and I find it challenging. It asks you how you feel and adjusts the workouts accordingly. I look forward to doing it each day.

1 out of 5 stars Not interesting at all   January 5, 2009
Very boring, uninteresting and uneventful game. Doesn't even give a good work-out, you don't need to do the moves it is telling you, the wii fit and fitness coach are so much better.
